Choosing the Right Employer for Your Internship

Jessica David – Human Resources Intern

Hired: May 2014

Graduating from Concordia University - Appleton Center in December 2016

"Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn." – Benjamin Franklin

"I started my position in May 2014 thinking I would have light Human Resource responsibilities. The position has everything but light responsibilities. I am extremely fortunate to have received my internship with SECURA! I know I am gaining real-life experience and can apply this, along with my education, into any workplace. SECURA has trusted me to hire many associates, which makes me feel like I am valued as well as adding value.

To students looking for internships, I advise you to find an employer that is going to give you a valuable experience. Make sure the employer will be having you do more than just file and run errands. When you walk away from your internship you should feel as if you have a solid knowledge base to step into a position within your career field. I am thrilled to have found an employer like SECURA that is willing to give students that kind of experience.

After all, choosing the right internship is like choosing the right chips! There are many choices, and it's up to you to find your preferred brand/company."
